How it works

Plug it in. Flip it on. Close the lid.

MacBooks sleep when the lid closes, and your agent stops with them.

  1. Render: the key just before it goes into a USB-C port on the side of a MacBook, its plug showing between the key and the port.

    It goes in a USB-C port, along your Mac's side. Set up the Possum app once.

  2. Render: the slide switch on the end of the key.

    Step 2

    Flip it on. Close the lid.

    The possum opens its eyes, and your Mac stays awake with the lid shut.

  3. Step 3

    Wi-Fi drops? It keeps going.

    It moves to your phone's hotspot by itself.

How much does it cost?

We'll share the price with the list before pre-orders open. There's no subscription.

Possum is : the key in its gift box and the Possum app, with free US shipping and no subscription. Gifting? Two are when pre-orders open.

When am I charged, and can I cancel?

You're charged when you pre-order. Cancel anytime before your key ships and we refund you in full: reply to any email from us, or write to hello@trypossum.com. If the price drops before your key ships, we refund the difference. The details are in the pre-order terms.

When does it ship?

The first batch is estimated to ship in early December. If that date slips, we'll email you the new one before the old one passes, and you can cancel for a full refund.

Which Macs does it work with?

Macs with Apple silicon on macOS 26 or later. To check one, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu: the chip should be an Apple M-series chip, and macOS should be version 26 or later. It's Mac only for now.

What keeps running?

Anything that runs on your Mac: coding agents in your terminal or editor, AI assistants, long builds, test suites, downloads, cron jobs and your own scripts.

Does it use my phone's data?

Only when the Wi-Fi drops and you've let Possum use your hotspot.

Which phones work?

An iPhone signed in to the same Apple Account as your Mac, or any hotspot your Mac has joined before, like an Android phone's.

Will it cover my other ports?

It can. The key lies along your Mac's side and sticks out about 6 mm, so it can cover the port next to it. On 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros, that can be the headphone jack or the SD card slot, depending on the port you use.

Can I ship it straight to a friend?
